Okay, so quite a lot has happened over the past few months...

Lost job. Got job. Old job wanted me back plus 3 new positions available within old job area. Old job couldn't compete salary wise and comfort-wise. I was fitted by an occupational therapist at new job. I'm not chained to desk at new job. Got better at new job. Staying at new job.

Didn't have enough to buy Prismacolors and Amazon was throwing a fit at their inability to ship markers internationally for some reason - then a generous family member shipped them for free (Thanks Becky! you really didn't have to!!) And now I'm thinking of what to get her for Christmas.

I pooled all my Amazon gift certs into one and bought a swanky box of 72 prismacolor markers. They don't sell these in NZ so I'm buzzing about what I'm going to do with them all.

I still want to explore the watercolors and whatnot, and haven't abandoned shoopery completely. Photography has taken a back burner while the weather is still playing up and acting incredibly cruel. It BROKE our windbreak last month, so the door is exposed to the wind. Having a windbreak is key, and when you're on top of these bloody hills it really makes sense to have a windbreak from the front door. Most other houses have other houses around them to break the wind, but we're really exposed here.

Guess I should take advantage of our hilltop and post some pictures of the gorge.

Marker Sadness (help)

Sun Sep 20, 2009, 8:23 PM
I tried coloring something with my markers...

I bought my markers in 2002/2003...

They've lasted quite a while. But the thing is, in NZ, they don't sell these markers.

So, I've been down on my luck. This year:
I've been elbowed out of a few jobs that I applied to.
My father died, an expensive and lengthy trip back to the states.
Lost my job (contract ended)
And I've had a lot of setbacks.

If anyone could donate just a few dollars, amazon-gift-certificate to kendravixie AT gmail DOT com, it would be much appreciated.

Shipping alone to NZ is nearly $30 US.
I have some US$, just enough to cover my markers.

I'd be able to color you stuff old-school.

Anyone who donates will receive a free commission, coloring of their work/etc.

I'm obsessed with ink/rust portraits I've created:

I probably have things I'm not colouring, so I should get to colouring. c,c

New Works, Anime overload

Wed Sep 9, 2009, 5:03 PM
Been catching up on my ImagineFX and Advanced Photoshop magazines. Reading and re-reading, trying out some of the tutorials.

A few of the images that I tried turned out like poop, they skip steps in the magazine.

But some of them turned out OK:

For the John Lennon in Typography, I had my iTunes library on shuffle. 9/10 songs were John Lennon solo albums from NY. It was rather serendipitous/creepy. This is ...100/out of ten thousand it could have played.

The last, I had to go my own way for the nebula clouds, because the tutorial pointed at pay-for-stock and I'm poor.
No stock.
Lots of render clouds and cloud paintings later, I had a good looking nebula effect.

In anime:
Uhmmm... let's see
Shangri-la
My Hime/otome Zwei
My Hime/otome Sifr
DOGS: guns, bullets, and carnage

<3 all of them.

ANIMETASTIC!

Journal Entry: Wed Sep 2, 2009, 8:38 PM
Not much is going on, except for new deviations and coloring line arts.

I started to rotoscope a piece, ...but I don't know if I'll finish it. I need to do more pieces where I'm showing my line work instead of copping out and coloring someone else's. It's fun, but I need to get to the heart and draw more, practice more, and be less of a dweeb. I just want to see the finished result so much that I skip making line art.

Been watching tonnes of anime:
Noein
Itzura na Kiss
Meloncholy of Haruhi Suzumiya
Ergo Proxy

Animesquish.org has been my savior as of recent.

And movies...

Just feeling blah.
